Help children in public schools

Literacy No Comments

I stumbled upon this website today that will allow you to pick the classroom you can donate to to help low income children in public schools to learn how to read. A small donation can go a long way. You have many choices when it comes to the type of project, what they teach, the location of the school and income levels when donating. Please help today, visit: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/browse.html?zone=0

A good book

The nook titled ‘Literacy at the Crossroads - Crucial Talk About Reading, Writing, and Other Teaching Dilemmas’ by Regie Routman tackled literacy issues today. One of the best things about this book is that it inspires teachers and parents to do better. One of the best issues that he tackles in my opinion is the media. I wont spoil the book so pick up a copy today. You can find it online here: http://books.heinemann.com/products/07210.aspx

The HUNT for literacy

The HUNT for literacy is another great program started by the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation. Not only is it fun but there is a $5,000 top price. Check out all the details on their website here: http://www.believeinbooks.org/HUNT.html

They also run a Book son Character program where the main characters in the books they read to children appear at readings. This is a lot of fun for the children and volunteers. Check it out here: http://www.believeinbooks.org/BooksinCharacter.html
